Engr Felix Atume, the Registrar of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has been a member of the Executive committee since 2008 in his capacity as the Secretary- General of the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO). Engr. Bulama was elected to represent National members on the Executive. The Nigerian Society of Engineers attended the event with an impressive delegation led by the President of the Society, Engr. Kashim Ali who called for the world body to focus on Africa and assist the continent to develop its engineering potentials. Engr Ali who addressed a meeting of the Commonwealth Engineers’ Council attended by key executive members of the FAEO and the WFEO questioned the gains Africa as a continent has so far derived from membership of such organisations and called for more commitment towards the continent. He argued that the World body should assist the African Engineers on capacity building and intervention on behalf of the national bodies in their interface with their respective governments. He bemoaned the attitude of the government to engineers in Nigeria and said the world body can assist the national bodies by advising the government on how to improve the learning and practice of engineering in the nation. The delegation also visited the Nigerian Ambassador to Kuwait, Ahmed Bala where the President briefed him on the mission of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in Kuwait and asked him as senior government official to ensure that Nigerian Engineers are given the right of place in the scheme of things in the country.
